In order to have a positive impact and show its concern for the communities surrounding its mining operations, PT. Bumi Konawe Minerina (BKM), a nickel mining company operating in the Mandiodo Block in Molawe District, North Konawe Regency (Konut), Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra), has provided assistance in the form of religious facilities and the construction of a bridge connecting villages.

PT. Bumi Konawe Minerina is a company that has commitment to the development of rural areas, particularly in the field of basic infrastructure. In March 2025, the company has implemented a community development program (PPM) in the areas of religious facilities and infrastructure development, as well as infrastructure that supports the PPM program. “A donation of Rp 50,000,000 for the construction of the Al Istiqomah Mosque in Tapunggaya Village, as well as an emergency response for the construction of the collapsed bridge in Tapuemea Village, which serves as the main access road for the community.” stated the middle-aged man commonly known as Sam.

The donation handover for the construction of the Al Istiqomah Mosque in Tapunggaya Village, valued at Rp 50,000,000, which took place on March 5, 2025, is part of a regular donation program conducted every semester, with activities having been ongoing for four semesters since 2023. The objective of this program is to improve the condition of the Al Istiqomah Mosque in Tapunggaya Village and ensure it is well-maintained, thereby enhancing the community’s ability to perform religious rituals and ultimately contributing to human resource development.

“The construction of the mosque is a key program of our company, regularly implemented as part of our efforts to improve infrastructure and human resources in the religious sector.” said CDE Manager of PT. BKM Syamsudin Alfatah.

Not only concerned with worship facilities, PT. BKM also built public facilities. On March 16, 2025, PT. Bumi Konawe Minerima responded quickly by completely rebuilding the main access bridge to Tapumea Village using heavy equipment and a large amount of timber. The bridge in Tapumea Village had collapsed and broken a few days earlier, causing public transportation to be unable to pass and forcing them to use a temporary alternative route through one of the villagers’ lands.

“This Tapuemea Bridge, which has collapsed, must be repaired and rebuilt immediately because it is the main access for the community. Therefore, BKM responded quickly to repair the bridge, and alhamdulillah, it was completed in two days. This is a manifestation of BKM’s commitment to public facility services.” He concluded.
